My writing contest submission piece
Would anyone like to help me out?
I’ve got the first 4,000 words of my book, “No One Adopts Teenagers,” written for the contest and I need a lot of help editing it. I’ve put it under a separate page titled “Novel Excerpt.” If you could leave me messages with your thoughts, or message me for my email address to email your thoughts about it to me, that would be fantastic!
Thank you guys so much!
Contest Update, etc.
So writing the first 4,000 words of this new book might not be as difficult as I’ve been making it out to be. The problem will arise when they ask me for the rest of it—assuming I get that far.
It’s more YA than the last book I’d been thinking about submitting to the contest (it’s about a teenager this time, not a 30 year old man), but it was also first and foremost in the form of a short story, so I have the actual skeleton of what it’s supposed to be, but now I need to put all of the rest of the body on.
Part of me hopes I win the ability to go to the next round (that would be AMAZING! I don’t know any writer who wouldn’t hope, even secretly, for that!), but another part of me is saying, “Yeah, right—and where’s the manuscript that would go along with it, hmm?”
So no, I don’t have the rest of the book ready yet. However, I do have the outline, and the details are half the battle! I’m -fairly- confident about this… Yes.
In other news, I’ve linked my email accounts and that’s very exciting!
…
It’s amazing how a few pictures and the right time of year can inspire me enough to want to write a series I’ve had in mind for a while now.
Whitewater Rafting
It’s a lot more fun than the pictures make it seem. They emphasize the splashes way too much—at least in my experience. We saw a bald eagle and went down a few good-sized rapids, got soaking wet, and had a pretty freakin’ amazing time! I enjoyed it immensely—makes me want to go kayaking and canoeing again.
