I’m going to reach 50,000 words on the YA book this week! YAY!
Also, I’ve started writing the summer book I was talking about earlier, but I’m still not sure which perspective it should be in…
Hmm…
Also, this is just a side note, but it’s something that matters deeply to me: love is love. God is god. We’re all earthlings, regardless of either of those things. Getting pissed off or hateful about someone who isn’t attracted to the same gender you are, or who doesn’t believe in your imaginary friend, or whatever it is that’s getting you so riled up, is stupid and childish. If we all focused half as much energy on cleaning up our trash, taking care of our loved ones, and just being better people as we do on putting one another down and telling everyone who doesn’t follow our individual creed of belief that they’re wrong and we’re right, then this world might just be a better place.
Thanks to a lot of very loud, very insecure, and very mean people, it’s not.
People need to start treating people like people.

But it gets better lil Kardin
Now u can’t see out…

Here is a Georgia State Trooper in riot gear at a KKK protest in a north Georgia city back in the 80s. The Trooper is black. Standing in front of him and touching his shield is a curious little boy dressed in a Klan hood and robe. I have stared at this picture and wondered what must have been going through that Trooper’s mind. Before the Trooper is an innocent child who is being taught to hate him because of the color of his skin. The child doesn’t understand what he is being taught, and at this point he doesn’t seem to care. Like any other child his curiosity takes hold and he wants to explore this new thing that this man is holding probably because he can see his reflection in it and that’s a neat thing and he wants to check it out. In this picture I see innocence mixed with hate, the irony of a black man protecting the right of white people to assemble in protest against him, temperance in the face of ignorance, and hope that racism can be broken because this young boy may remember that a black man smiled at him once and he didn’t seem so bad after all.
Wow.

Look at this picture, and take five minutes to read this.
This is Catherine Polgar. She’s beautiful, right? She was a straight A student, she bought her tickets to prom, she had enrolled in Salem State College to become a teacher. She appeared like she had everything going for her.
On May 17, 2009 Cate Polgar committed suicide. A girl who everyone thought had it all, didn’t. She was battling a lot within herself. She was a senior at my high school when I was a sophomore. I never got the privilege to get to know her personally, but I did get the privilege to meet her younger sister Jennie. Last year I had a class with Jennie. She was a freshman and I was a junior, and since then she’s been a part of my life. She’s been one of the few true people who have stuck around this year for me, and I’m amazed by how strong of a young woman she is.
I would appreciate if people reblogged this, just to show that the ‘popular’ ‘outgoing’ ‘perfect’ people in high school don’t always have everything together. Everyone has struggles, and I believe people should treat everyone they know and meet with respect, because you never know what they are battling.
Please reblog this, and maybe think of the kids who you think don’t have a worry in the world. They do, trust me. Rest in Peace Cate.
Everyone is fighting their own battle.
